The Order of Canada is one of the country’s highest honours, recognizing those who have made extraordinary contributions to the nation. Crofton House is proud of its alumnae who have been awarded this honour. Here, we highlight those who have received this prestigious commendation.
Crofton House School has a rich tradition in field hockey with many alumnae continuing their passion for the sport beyond graduation, whether for fun or in more competitive environments. In December, this legacy came to life as five CHS alumnae participated in the inaugural Pan American Continental Cup Masters Field Hockey tournament held in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
As they start considering their career after CHS, Grade 11 and 12 students have the opportunity to explore different vocations through the Work Experience Program. The program is an additional opportunity for students that supplements the Career Education curriculum. It offers 20 hours of work experience for students who are matched with a program supporter, including CHS alumnae, working in a field of their interest.
The holidays are a time of giving and receiving, but Crofton House students experience that joy year-round through the service-learning component of the Ivy Compass program. Reciprocity makes the program unique. The school community gives its time and talents while also receiving experience, widened worldviews, and greater understanding of others.
Grade 12 Crofton House student Sofie has always loved school, calling it her sanctuary. At five, she visited a township in Cape Town, South Africa and realized something life-changing: not all girls had access to the same quality of education as she did.
CHS Alumnae Association President, Kelly (McCarthy) Eng ’90, share a message of welcome with alumnae.
At this year’s annual opening assembly, Ena Harrop, Head of School, delivered a powerful speech to our students and community.
The excitement of receiving a letter in the mail is one that the 40 Crofton House Grade 1 students experienced first-hand this year when they became pen pals with approximately 20 alumnae who graduated between 1947-1982. Read about the experience.
Akarty Dhesi ’21, Head Girl, shares with us her commencement address from the Class of 2021 graduation ceremony this past June. Akarty has attended Crofton since Grade 8 and was heavily involved in the theatre and improv program. She is an aspiring writer. One of her goals in life is to introduce more diversity in literature and uplift marginalized voices in writing. Akarty will be attending UBC Sauder School of Business in the fall.
Congratulations to the Class of 2021 and their accomplishments this past year! Enjoy this selection of photos from their Grad 2021 ceremony and celebration, as well as a listing of the post-secondary institutions our graduates will be attending in the coming years.
