Thriving in Possibility
A Message from the Head of School and Board Chair The outcome of a robust and collaborative process within our community, Thriving in Possibility: A Strategic Plan for Crofton House School will guide CHS toward 2030 and beyond. We are excited to share it with you.
The plan represents a thoughtful balance of stability and progress. Coinciding with the 125-year anniversary of Crofton House School, it affirms the fundamental elements that have steered CHS successfully throughout its history and that alumnae have identified as integral to their experience at the School. At the same time, the plan identifies how Crofton House will continue to innovate and evolve. It understands the significance of belonging, recognizes opportunity in change, and embraces the responsibilities of schools in educating thoughtful and engaged citizens.
At the heart of Thriving in Possibility is our belief in the power of girl-centred education, meaningful relationships as the basis for personal growth, and a better future for all through the
Emerging from a pandemic, the time was right to reflect on some key questions around the role of schools and the unique position of Crofton House. While academic excellence will always be important, schools are increasingly accountable for educating young people who value diversity as a strength and are committed to collective well-being, sustainability, and democracy. For girls' schools, this is also about preparing young women to lead in ways that advance these aims. The contributions that many CHS alumnae, past and present, have made to their communities exemplify this type of citizenship. Thriving in Possibility represents our response to this challenge and our vision for CHS in the world.
It was wonderful to see the extent of community engagement in developing this plan. The result both reflects many common themes of input and considers points of difference. Thank you to everyone who provided their time and perspectives; your contributions have allowed this plan to be responsive to the needs and aspirations of our community showing how much schools have to gain from seeing themselves as places of reciprocal learning.
We will sustain the deliberate approach to implementation that ensured the success of our previous strategic plan: an approach that identifies actions, responsibilities, and milestones each year while regularly reporting on our progress. The plan provides direction while also upholding the agility we know is vital, therefore, is intentionally not time-bound.
We look forward to working together to bring this plan to life, strengthening our community’s capacity to thrive and positively influence the world around us.
